Kirsten & Kayla had a perfect July day for their wedding in Gloucester, MA. They’ve been so excited about getting married and the day was finally here!
We were so happy when Kirsten & Kayla inquired with us to film their same-sex wedding. But we were upset to hear they had a hard time finding videography teams to represent them. Having always served the LBGTQ+ community, we were heartbroken to hear this.
Determined to make this an incredible experience, we couldn’t wait to go above and beyond for them.
How Kirsten and Kayla met, became best friends, discovered their love for each other. We met for a lunch of lunch fried clams, scallops, and lobster rolls when we heard their story over. (If there’s a better way to have a consultation—I’ve yet to hear it.) And, finally, the incredible scavenger hunt Kayla planned for Kirsten ended with an engagement ring.
These two incredible women were completely authentic and unafraid to show their emotions! They’re so happy, excited, hilarious, genuine, smart, sassy, and wonderful—the best of all the things wrapped up into two human beings. We cannot WAIT for you to watch their wedding film!
The sky was bright blue, the air was the perfect blend of warm, breezy, and the air was soft with the ocean salt.
They’ve been so excited about getting married and the day was finally here! The atmosphere was absolutely electric.
Before we met up with the girls that morning, who were getting ready at one of the houses in the gorgeous Beauport Hotel, we dropped our equipment off at the Cruiseport Gloucester, and let me tell you, this venue is beautiful.
It sits right on the water with a great big ship docked out front (which is where their first look was) so everywhere you looked was a view of the water, there are beautiful huge windows – with all the natural light shining in, it’s a videographers dream!
After Kayla was dressed in her crazy gorgeous gown, it was time for her first look with Kirsten. Both ladies were as nervous as they’d ever been.
Kirsten waited on the cruise ship right off the dock of their venue, nervous with a belly full of butterflies at the idea of seeing her soon wife-to-be. A few minutes later Kayla came aboard and we arranged the girls on the dock up behind each other.
When they turned around it was the biggest most magical moment we’ve ever witnessed. Kirsten broke down in happy tears at the overwhelming beauty of her bride and during one of the biggest reveals of the day.
This moment is absolutely a must-see. There’s no bigger love than that of these two spectacular women.
Lining both sides of the aisle were rose petals with candles in lanterns.
Seeing both ladies come down the aisle beaming with happiness with their fathers, was one of the highlights of the day. Every single moment on this day was so sweet and tugged on every heartstring.
Before Kirsten & Kayla said their vows we were all treated to a few things of what they loved most about each other. (Including Kayla laughing at her own jokes way too hard, and how Kirsten’s smile will light up a room.)
Very sweetly, they took their vows to forever be there for each other and when they turned around being pronounced as wife and wife—friends and family reacted with thunderous applause in celebration.
Following the ceremony we jetted out to a local part on the trolley and got right to filming all the action around the wedding party photos and cocktail hour. We all had so much fun at the park where photos were taken, just goofing around and having such a good time!
Introductions kicked off the party with energy cheering with some of the silliest and fun entrances to exist.
After intros, it went straight into Kirsten & Kayla’s choreographed first dance which was incredible. Twirls, dips, lifts—it had it all. Most importantly, at the center of it was the most incredible love of two women so happy to be finally married. After that, the dance floor didn’t stop!
The toasts from Kayla’s Matron and Man of honor and Kirsten’s Matron of Honor all gave amazing speeches filled with cherished childhood memories and hearty laughs at questionable fashion choices. Then finally, when it all came to an end and Sean and I said goodbyes, we gave them both great big bear hugs before leaving.
Kirsten & Kayla, thank you so much for letting us capture your best day ever. It was an honor being part of your love story and we’re so happy to have been able to tell it for you. We really couldn’t have had a better time being there for you.
We hope your future is filled with tons more happiness, family, and love! Cheers to you both!!
